Eureka! A meteor!

More Formula X! We're having beautifully clear weather this week, so I thought I'd celebrate with a bright color. So out came the pink!

Formula X Eureka. Decent formula, two coats to opacity. Application was a little tricky; going over an area twice tended toward balding. But a thicker second coat helped even it all out.

Meteoric is their black and white glitter. I'm in love with this. No bar glitter! Hooray! You can see on my index finger that there are larger hex pieces in there, but I prefer the thinner coverage on the other nails. There are also tiny holographic sparkles, but these pictures don't capture that. I'll just say this: if you like black and white glitters, get this one. You won't regret it.

The elusive right hand! Just to show the more even coverage across all the nails. No dabbing necessary.

Zoya Lara

Zoya Lara. Bright blue-toned pink cream. I bought it because it's almost my name (one letter off!), and I wear it because it's the perfect barbie pink.

Day 1.

Day 5!

Day 5.

I went lipstick shopping while wearing this, and it's a pretty good match for Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid in Fuchsia Flash.

Pink Wednesday: OPI "If You Pink So..."

Here's a pink wednesday that I don't think anyone has seen before! Or at least, I haven't found any swatches of it...
I went to Beauty Brands to kill some time the other day, and they had a shelf full of this pretty pink. Here's the display...

It's called "If You Pink So..." and it looks like it's a brand new Beauty Brands exclusive. I usually look up swatches before I buy anything, but when I googled this one, absolutely nothing came up! So here you go.

This is a bottle shot I took in the car with my iPhone right after buying it. It's got a really pretty shimmer in it! Blue & pink. (PS, on my nails is one of the OPI sorbets; Guy Meets Galveston, I think?)

These are all 2 coats with no top coat.

This isn't color accurate, but you can see the shimmer a little better.

It's a medium pink with strong blue undertones. I'm currently wearing Essie's Bachelorette Bash on my toes, and they're exactly the same color. Seriously, insanely perfectly matched. So if you know what the Essie looks like, you know what color If You Pink So... is; just imagine it with a really subtle blue & pink shimmer.

What do you think of If You Pink So...? Have you heard of it before? Will you be getting it now?

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink: OPI Cozu-melted in the Sun

I'm really not much of a dainty, pink, office-appropriate nail-color kind of person. I like greens and blues and bright colors, things that will cheer me up and get people to notice them. But every now and then I need something slightly more demure. Apparently for me, "demure" is something like this...

OPI Cozumelted In the Sun. Husband is a diver and loves Cozumel, so I mostly bought this for the name. But it's also really pretty! It's pink and silver, shimmery/foil, and when I need a break from brights, this is a great place for me to turn. It's what I wore last time I had a really bad break and didn't want to draw attention to my mangled nail.

What's your go-to Neutral-But-Not-Boring color?

Flip Flop Fantasy

I don't think it's possible for a camera to accurately capture Flip Flop Fantasy. It wants to show up like this first picture: peachy.

But that's not accurate in the slightest! This polish is practically radioactive. I wore it on my toes last summer. I got in the pool one evening, and after my feet were deep enough I couldn't see them, I could still see my toenails! It's seriously BRIGHT.

This next picture is in dark of my apartment late at night, lit just by the tv and maybe a computer screen. The polish still stands out!

Pink Wednesday: Essie Your Hut or Mine

I love Essie. They aren't the most exciting of nail polish brands, but I like their cute little bottles & I like their brush, and I think they have some really beautiful shimmers (see: smooth sailing, mochacino). I got Your Hut or Mine thinking that it's a beautiful pink with a great gold shimmer, and... it halfway delivered.

This picture isn't in focus at all, but I just wanted to say: this is how YHOM wants to photograph. This is so far from accurate it isn't even funny.

This is closer to reality, but it's still not quite that bright. The real color is closer to the next picture, though my skin looks totally dead:

I will definitely be reaching for this color again, because it's a pink that walks the fine line between old-lady-pink and bubblegum-pink. I have had a really hard time finding a pink that doesn't feel too young or too old, and I think this one is exactly were I wanted it to be. But do you see any shimmer in there? Because I don't. It makes me sad. :(
But it's still pretty, and if you're having a hard time finding the right mix between young-old-bright-pale pinks, I highly suggest this one!

Also, don't forget that I'm having a little giveaway with red & blue goodies over here!

Excuse Moi!

Ok, here's the deal. I loved how this looked on my nails. It is pink sparkly girly perfection. But I don't want to know how much top coat it would have taken to make it smooth... and the removal process was INSANE. I know everyone swears by the foil method, but I just don't think I should have to sit around with tinfoil on my fingers in order to get polish off of my nails. I think I'm just not cut out to be a glitter girl. A polish like Glitter in the Air with a little bit of glitter that won't make me insane, sure. But something like this? I will think long and hard before doing that again.

But here are some pictures! Feel free to click and view large. There are a lot of colors that turn into "pink & silver sparkles" from a distance, but if you look closely you can still see a lot of them.

OPI Excuse Moi!

My right hand!!
These are all 2 coats, no cleanup.

What do you think about glitter polishes? Are they worth the removal process for you?

On Wednesdays we wear Pink! Strawberry Fields edition

I wore this LAST Wednesday, so it totally counts as a Wednesday pink!

China Glaze Strawberry Fields is one of the first polishes I bought after I got into polish. Just a couple quick swatches, since I'm sure you've all seen it before!

Shade

Indirect light
Winter finally descended upon us this last week, so no sunlight here! But I think these pictures show the gold shimmer pretty well! It's so pretty.

Zoya Anaka

Anaka is so wonderful. Bright pink with a great shimmer. And out of the sun, it hovers on the line between pink and purple.

Then I added Meep Meep Meep from the Muppets collection on my ring fingers. I expected it to be more different, but instead it ended up being a pretty good comparison. They're very similar color-wise, but the finishes are different, and Meep Meep Meep had a lot more depth.

Pink Wednesdays

It's my first official Pink Wednesday!

I remembered a couple days ago that there was a Target gift card that had been hanging out in my wallet for a couple years! So I took advantage of that and bought a couple bottles of polish! Yay! They still have the entire Come to Poppy & Pirates of the Caribbean collections, which seems strange, but since I never picked any of them up, I'm more than ok with that. I got Skull & Glossbones and Play the Peonies. I figured as a pianist, Play the Peonies should be in my stash!!

These photos are 2 coats, no top coat, no cleanup, in diffused light. This is a lovely, soft shade that just feels utterly ladylike. It's the tiniest bit brush-strokey, but not enough to bother me.
I'll probably be bored with it by tomorrow, but it's a gorgeous palate cleanser that would have been absolutely perfect for a piano concert. I'll probably come back to this in the spring!
